The State Educational Government-Financed Institution of Higher Professional Education of the City of Moscow «Moscow City Teacher Training University» (MCTTU) was founded in 1995 by the Government of Moscow City. Rector of MCTTU is Igor M. Remorenko, Сandidate of Pedagogic Sciences, Associate Professor, Honorary Employee of General Public Education.

President of MCTTU is Victor V. Ryabov, Dr. rer. hist., Senior Professor, Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education, Full Member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Petrovskaya Academy of Sciences and Arts, Academy of Humanities Studies and International Academy of Sciences, Education, Industry and Arts (USA) and others public academies. Victor V. Ryabov holds an honorary doctorate of Euro Swiss University.

For 18 years of its existence MCTTU has developed into a center for the Sciences, Education and Culture of Moscow and entered into the top three of major teacher training universities of Russia. One of the advantages of the university is its organic embeddedness in system of Moscow education and focusing on training for the social sector of the city. The aim of MCTTU is not only to train future teachers but also experts of non-teaching professions: lawyers, managers, civil servants, designers, psychologists, sociologists, experts in the field of public relations, etc. The University implements more than 300 educational programmes at all levels and degrees of the basic, secondary, higher (specialist, bachelor, master degree, postgraduate) and additional professional education.

MCTTU comprises 12 institutes and 4 faculties, Сollege of Humanities and Law, Teacher Training Colleges, Secondary Comprehensive School and Samara Branch. 16,000 students and 200 pupils have been currently studying in mentioned above institutions. The backbone of the students consists of graduates of Moscow schools and colleges.

MCTTU has a strong potential of educational research, academic staff have Candidate degree and one in five has Doctorate degree. Among the academic staff there are full members and corresponding members of the Russian and international academies of sciences, honored teachers of the Russian Federation, laureates of State Prize of the Russian Federation and the winners of the Prize of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of education. Teachers and researchers of the University are the authors of textbooks for schools, teacher training colleges and universities. These textbooks are on mathematics and computer science, foreign languages, biology, chemistry, geography, pedagogy, special pedagogy and psychology, history and economics. Many textbooks are included in Federal academic series and marked by various awards.

Eight series of the journal «Vestnik of MCTTU» (scientific series), which is included in the «List of the leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications...» of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and other scientific, educational and teaching literature are being published in the University.

Many departments of University have strong links with colleagues from foreign scientific and educational centers. International activities have become an integral part of the educational process in MCTTU. In 2008 the University became a member of the International Association of Universities under UNESCO and a member of Association of Rectors of Pedagogical Universities in Europe (Association of Universities in Europe) in 2011.

Probations in the leading universities at home and abroad are involved in the practical aspect of the post-graduate programmes of MCTTU
